Sometimes you may reach out to her first, while in other cases she initiates the conversation. Early messages often feel generic and lack personal details. This is because scammers frequently use pre-written scripts rather than engaging in genuine, personalized conversations.
The Language Barrier Story
After you’ve exchanged messages for a while, she explains that she doesn’t actually speak your language very well. She claims that she has been using a translation agency to help translate messages between the two of you.
At first, this explanation can seem reasonable—especially if she says she lives in another country.
The Financial Problem
As communication continues, she suddenly mentions that she’s facing financial difficulties and can no longer afford to pay the translation agency.
She then asks if you would be willing to cover the cost of the translations, explaining that she likes you and wants to keep communicating. This is the moment when the scam becomes clear.
Contact From the “Translation Agency”
In some cases, you may not hear this request directly from her. Instead, a so-called translation agency contacts you, claiming that her account is overdue and that translation services will be stopped.
They offer a solution: you can pay the outstanding fees on her behalf so the communication can continue uninterrupted.
How the Scam Ends
If you agree to pay, the conversations continue—but only as long as the payments do. Once you stop sending money, the woman suddenly disappears, cutting off all communication as if she never existed.
